First public meeting for the proposed USDA Conventional / Organic Slaughter Facility

Please come to discuss the potential return of an USDA-approved slaughter facility to Jackson County! This is a critically important meeting for livestock and poultry producers in Southern Oregon. The proposed facility aims to process 1500 head/year. Producers who are an integral part of the formation of the slaughterhouse will have preferred access to its services. If you want to influence the design and/or operation of a USDA facility here in the Rogue Valley, NOW IS the time to get involved.

1. Under which type of corporate structure/organization will the slaughterhouse operate? (Co-op, member-owned/-controlled, Investor-owned C-Corp, or LLC, etc.)
2. Location of Facility
3. Private Label Brand marketed by Facility and Retail outlets
4. Types of specialty processing (smoking, curing, jerky, sausage, fermenting, etc.)
5. Packaging and labeling needs of producers
6. Poultry Pork, lamb, goat game processing concerns
7. Value added Products
8. Specialty Certifications (Whole Foods, Animal Welfare Approved, Global Animal Partnership, Kosher, etc.)
